1 packet of Shiritaki Noodles
Quarter pond of fat free ground beef or turkey.
4 mushrooms
¼ sliced green capsicum
¼ diced white onion
4 cloves of garlic
1 tsp of black pepper
1 tsp of red pepper flakes
2 tsp of dried oregano
¾ cup of pasta sauce
Method:
Prepare the noodles as per the instructions given on the package. In a flat bottomed pan, sauté the onions and capsicum. Add the ground beef. Wait till it browns. Then add the minced garlic, black pepper, red pepper flakes and oregano. Check if the beef is cooked, then add the mushrooms and cook till they become soft. In another saucepan, warm the pasta sauce and put in the noodles. Add this to the meat mix and allow them to simmer together to blend in the flavors. This low cal spaghetti is loaded with whole grains, protein and fiber.
Recipe #3: Granola Bar
Ingredients
1 cup of oatmeal
1 cup of whole wheat flakes
½ cup of rice crispies
1 cup of assorted nuts like almonds, pine nuts and peanuts
2 tbsp of raisins
2 tsp of flax seeds
1 ½ cups of castor sugar or brown sugar
Method:
Make syrup with the sugar such that it is sticky and forms strands. Combine all the other ingredients and microwave on high for 2 minutes. This is done to dehumidify and make the granola bar crunchy.
Add the sugar syrup to the grains and nut mixture. Mix well and spread on a flat tray with the help of a rolling pin. Allow it to cool and cut into bars. You can also add chocolate chips to make it tempting for kids.
